Decoration/Style/Design for your home?

Hi Guys!! Need help with my course work… Im doing a study about homes and I would like to know:

Which kind of decoration, design would like for your home?
More traditional, conservative, modern, very clean and straight lines, very full of things, comfy and sweet, zen, victorian, oriental, minimalistic, very functional or maybe fashion and following the new trends or maybe you don’t really care a lot? And which colours and fabrics?

My wife and I have decorated our apartment with everything we have collected over the years, so it is cluttered but comfy. If we owned a house, then we could spread out and it would not be as cluttered. I could stick my Cincinnati Reds collection in one room and my wife could decorate the rest of the house. She would probably decorate with a bit of fashion, but still functional and comfy. I would have to help with colors. I am better at colors, but I would probably pick more earthy or neutral colors. My wife would probably pick colors that are more bright. I would help her with accent colors. She likes to keep rooms with a theme. In our current kitchen, it has a chefs motif, while our current bathroom has a French feel. It will change because my wife is tired of these motifs, but I am not sure what she wants. I know she wants more of the motif of her home country of Peru. I would not mind that. As long as I have my man cave, I will be happy.

Video of Akon’s performance in Trinidad @ Zen nightclub?

Have you seen the video? What do you think?
YouTube has taken all the ‘nasty’ videos of the website because of copyright laws … or so they say, all the clean videos of that night are still there. Everyone is upset, because the girl is 14 and she is a pastors daughter. Don’t get me wrong Akon is to blame for 1st of all lying to the audience about the free trip to Africa and then for behaving in the most immoral manner but I think the girl and her family are to blame as well (what was a 14 yr old school girl from a religious home doing at a 18+ nightclub on a school night). West Indians are known for provocative ‘winin’ but that was just disgusting on Akon’s part.
N e ways does n e 1 know where I can video?
She is in fact 14.

Nikkel that site does not work. I think he people have made it their job to take any of those nasty clips off. As I am also sure they (if they have not already) will offer her family money not to sue.
Zen is one of the worst nightclubs in Trinidad. Of course the hardly every ID. They overcharge, they are racist on most normal nights and thing is some people still go. They (the girl and her family) are tryin to make her look like the victim. However a victim she may be she lied to parents, she got caught. And it’s true Akon disgusts me, I can’t listen to his music anymore.

I honestly think that everyone who wants to see the provocative behavior which was on the site should be allowed to for two reasons. 1. Why is it that a 14 year old is allowed access to a club where there is a 18+ age requirement. Aren’t they supposed to show their ID cards at the entrance? I think the security is not at all professional. 2. Here we have a 14 year old school girl going to a night club. Where were her parents when she dressed to leave home. It is obvious that if she dresses that way no one will no her true age. Man I’m older than she is and she looks more mature than i do. Another thing her parents need to take some blame due to the fact that a 14 year old should not be allowed to go out on a school night i don’t care where he or she says he is going. To touch on Akon, he is just showing me that he has no respect for himself or for young ladies and what he did was down right DISRESPECTFUL. You don’t treat a young lady like that, but then again a young lady doesn’t dress or behave in that manner. Don’t just blame Akon, the blame must go around fairly. Blame everyone involved, Akon, 14 year old Deena, her parents, security at the club, the owner and don’t forget to include the ones who took those disgusting pictures but at the same time thank them for revealing the type of behavior that takes place in these nightclubs.

How do me and my mom keep the house more clean? URGENT!!!?

So, I’m 14 years old, and live with my mom who’s single (divorced from my father whom I don’t live with). I have 2 younger sisters aged 12 and 8. They constantly destroy the house and don’t help clean up ever. I’m home alone on weekends (because my mom works 7am until 11:30 at night, and my sisters go to our dad’s house), so I can clean the house when necessary but there are no places to put any clutter or toys because my youngest sister sleeps in the same room with my mother, and really doesn’t have her own space. Me and my 12 year old sister have our own rooms so we have places to put all of our things, but my sisters aren’t as good at cleaning up after themselves.

Basically, I’m just looking for tips on how to organize space better because our house is so messy and it’s difficult to put things in places where they go, when we don’t know where we can put things in the house. The messiness of the house stresses out me and my mom, and often when i’m having a bad day I get panic attacks and get stressed out over the messiness of the house. My mother also has bad days too, and when she gets stressed out she starts getting really upset and talks about how her life is terrible, and she has no money and the house is a mess and no one cares. It makes me and my sisters sad and i’m just looking for a way to make the house clean and look put-together without spending a lot of money because my mom gets stressed out about that too. She’s amazing and has done so much for me and my sisters, she comforts me about everything, and makes me laugh all the time, she’s the most happy, positive person I know, and I can’t stand to see her stressed out and upset like how she gets sometimes. We’re almost the same person because of how alike we are.

Is there anything that I can do in a 2 day span (the weekend when she’s not there) so I can cleanup and organize the house to surprise her and help contribute to keeping the house disorganized. I’m not looking for cleaning methods, but more organization methods so I can keep my sisters stuff more together and less in the way of the general flow of the house.

One other thing that could help would be methods of arranging the furniture to keep the rooms more open and very zen. (My mom is really into fung shuei)

You are an amazing young lady and have an amazing family! Something inexpensive would be to get boxes. Grocery stores and department stores stock their shelves and have leftover boxes. Go when they are stocking their shelves. I know WalMart stocks late at night or early morning. Get more than you think you will need, because you may need them. You can group certain toys or items in boxes and label them with a marker what is in them. I know this is not feng shui but you can store things under the bed. You can store things under tables and have a long table cloth hang over the edge to the floor. The table cloth could be made from sheets or a pretty scarf.

If things have a box or place to put them, it will be easier for your sisters to put their things away. If someone takes a box out and plays with those things, you could make rules with them that they have to put that box of things away before they take something else out. As an example, if they like to color or draw, you could put all the crayons, colored pencils, coloring books. Etc. In one box and label it. For books and magazines, you can cut the top off a box with a serated knife, lay it on its side and you have a small bookcase or bookends that keep your books neat. Those can be put on the top of a dresser, table or counter.

For the sister that does not have a place to put things, how about the bottom of the closet or under the bed. Get boxes that will fit those spaces and she can have one box for pants, one for shirts, etc. And just slide it under the bed.

You will need to remind your sisters about putting their things away right away when they are done with it. If dishes and cups end up in the livingroom or bedrooms, when someone leaves that room they should take dishes to the kitchen.

You can set up job charts and work together and decide who should do which job and when.

You can set it up where a half hour before bedtime everyone rushes and get the place cleaned up before going to bed.

Really Gross Story, please help?

So, my wife and I live in a city that has a lot of rats. Our home is really clean except we share an adjoining wall with my landlord and he is filthy. He had rats in his place and they came over to ours and nested in our oven. We didn’t know that at the time but do now. We’ve been trying to kill them but didn’t get them all. We made dinner in the oven the other night and the next day we were both really sick to our stomachs and have been for several days. To make it worse, my wife is 3 months pregnant. I’m worried about her having dysentery or something. We then found out that rats were living somewhere in the sheet metal voids of the oven and we might have baked feces and then ate the food. I am so mad! If it weren’t for the fact that my landlord is some black belt kung fu zen master I would beat his a$$. PLEASE, don’t tell me to go to the doctor because we are going but I want to know what I can be looking for and what are some possible illnesses that could have occurred from this. Thank you

You’ll probably be okay; the heat of the oven should kill any disease.

I would just move, with the filthy neighbor and all the rats aren’t likely to go away.
